Our Story

Dance is one of our passions.

We have both been teaching individually and in different countries for a number of years!  Recently we decided to join forces and bring a more diverse form of dance to the

Halifax area.

Try us, you'll love it

Linda - Ceilidh Dance

I was born and brought up in Scotland and have been dancing

since the tender age of 4!  I moved to Canada in 1989 and since then have tried Ballroom, Bollywood, Belly dancing, Salsa & Swing to name a few, but my true love is Scottish Ceilidh.

I started teaching in 2017 and have been involved with the Bible Hill Recreation department, Town of Truro Events, The Colchester Highland Games & Gathering, The Douglas St School and Truro Pantomime Theatre.  I moved to Halifax in 2021 and am looking forward to continuing to bring the joy of dance to the Haligonians.

I love to hike, paint and create things, I've travelled to many countries and seen many amazing sights but I always come home to Nova Scotia - it is New Scotland after all.

Ceilidh dances are a blend of Royal Court Dancing, Ballet and Folk..  It combines all three styles to create a fun set of dances which can be fast, slow, creative and oh so much fun.

You can bring a partner or borrow one of ours!  The dances are a mix of partner, single & groups.  They are suitable for a variety of fitness levels and I will teach both high and low impact.

Tayla - Bollywood & MTV Dance

I first learned how to dance Bollywood at  CEC high school in Truro before going to the prestigious Glasgow Academy of Musical Theatre Arts in Scotland where I also studied contemporary, jazz, ballet and tap.

I taught Bollywood & Jazz at Glasgow University and have tried a number of other dance styles throughout the years.

I have also travelled extensively all over the world and have fallen in love with the diversity of dance in different cultures.  I moved to Halifax at the beginning of 2022 and I am extremely happy to start teaching again at the Maritime Dance Academy.

I am also excited to bring the latest craze from the UK - MTV dance - ever wanted to learn how the stars do it in the music videos?  Well that is MTV.

Bollywood  is a fusion of art in motion and is good for individual dancers looking to learn a routine.

I  look forward to welcoming you to my classes.
Stay tuned for details of our new venue coming soon.
